It is well known that nutrition plays a fundamental role in people’s health, and that it promotes the proper functioning of our body.
Through it we feed our brain, muscles and provide ourselves with energy for all the physical activity we are going to do.
Take care of your diet with our tips
This is why, at Laga Surf Camp, taking into account that we are dedicated to surfing and that we practice this sport on a continuous basis, we must pay special attention to the aspect of nutrition.
On the one hand, to maintain a healthy body, on the other, to improve the performance of our training and also post-surfing.
This is because our body not only uses our reserves during exercise, but also draws on them afterwards, as well as during the state of rest that develops during the night. It is this fact that leads us to have to choose which foods we should eat, adjusting them to our daily lifestyle habits.
For this reason, in our surf camp, as well as in the surf school we have been preparing a useful guide on nutrition, habits and how to introduce them into your life in a simple way.
Guide to take care of your nutritional health
Today we are giving you some tips on how to incorporate a series of healthy lifestyle habits and modify your routines. This way, you will achieve, among other things, improving both your sports performance and your health, and thus dealing with possible illnesses or discomforts that may occur in the future.
- Finding a healthy and balanced diet. There are many recommendations from different dieticians and variations of diets according to your tastes, preferences or orientations: paleo diet, real food, keto diet, vegetarian diet, vegan diet, low-calorie diet…
- The diet has to be part of your lifestyle, although that does not mean that you cannot make changes according to circumstances and use different types of diets depending on the moment and the objectives set at each moment.
- Organize your menus in advance and buy only healthy products, otherwise you will buy what you shouldn’t and you won’t be able to easily find it in your cupboard and you won’t fall into temptation.
- Find a good source of protein. Nowadays, there are many options for vegans, omnivores and carnivores, but that will always be optional. But what is clear is that proteins are essential for the replenishment of our muscles.
- Hydration: In any sport, it is essential to hydrate properly, especially considering that a surfer has prolonged exposure to the sun.
- If possible, choose local products from your area and as organic as possible. At our surf camp we are lucky enough to live in the heart of the Urdaibai reserve and to be able to grow our own garden. That is why we suggest that on your next visit to our surf camp you take the opportunity to visit our garden.
- Limit your consumption of fast foods. If you don’t have much time, we recommend that you opt for eating something simple like a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts.
- Pre-surfing food To avoid lying on your board with a heavy stomach, opt for foods that are easy to digest.
These and many more tips will be included in your visit to our surf camp, so don’t hesitate and sign up for our surf camps.
We have activities for adults, young people and families, a privileged location and two accommodation options hostel or agrotourism, so you can enjoy surfing in its purest form.
